Professor Artur Rejter completed Polish studies at the University of Silesia (1994), where he also obtained his doctorate (1998) and habilitation (2007). He received the title of professor of humanities in 2017. Scientific interests and main research areas: history of the Polish language, linguistic genology, linguistics of text and discourse, stylistics, literary onomastics and discourse onomastics, lexicology and historical semantics, and gender linguistics. Author of six monographs and over one hundred and forty articles. Editor and co-editor of several scientific publications. He publishes in scientific journals and multi-author monographs in Poland and abroad. From 2008 to 2012, he was the deputy director for research at the Institute of Polish Language at the University of Silesia. In 2019, he became a member of the Scientific Excellence Council for the first term and the Program Council of the Silesian Library in Katowice. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Linguistics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, within which he heads the Onomastics Committee. He was a founder and a tutor (from 2003 to 2008) of the Historical and Language Section of the Students' Scientific Circle of Linguists at the University of Silesia. He conducted lectures and seminars in Italy (Rome, Turin, Lecce), Germany (Halle, Leipzig, Berlin, Cologne), Belarus (Minsk), Ukraine (Kyiv), Bulgaria (Veliko Tyrnovo), Latvia (Daugavpils), Hungary (Piliscsaba), Macedonia (Skopje), China (Shenyang). In 2008-2009, he lectured on gender studies at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw. He cooperates with the School of Polish Language and Culture of the University of Silesia. He is a member of the Polish Linguistic Society, the Linguistics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Katowice Branch), the Society of Polish Language Lovers, the Association of Polish Language and Culture School Supporters at the University of Silesia, the "Via Linguae" Association of the Friends of the Institute of Polish Language, University of Silesia.
