Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce

The Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, one of the eighteen classical state universities in Poland, is currently a dynamically developing university and the largest university in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is an academic institution with a significant and well-established scientific position in the country. Jan Kochanowski University combines tradition with modernity. It refers to the past and rich traditions of the city and the region and gives an impulse to the further development of Kielce as a university city. It co-creates the scientific, cultural, social, and economic potential of the Świętokrzyskie region.

From the perspective of the last decade, the nature and scope of changes taking place in our University are clearly visible. The contemporary Jan Kochanowski University is a modern university, adapted to the university standards of the twenty-first century and one of the best equipped universities in Poland in terms of scientific and didactic base. Such a dynamic development of the University has become possible, among other things, thanks to the structural funds of the European Union and subsidies from the state budget. In the last decade, the University has obtained nearly PLN 500 million in funding through this method, as a result of which there has been a significant expansion of the University Campus. Well-equipped and modern didactic rooms and specialized laboratories were created, constituting excellent didactic facilities and a scientific base for conducting multidirectional research that enables the development of university staff.

The University employs over 1400 people, including nearly 900 academic teachers, over 300 have the degree of habilitated doctor and the title of professor. Currently, 11.5 thousand students and doctoral students are being educated in all fields and forms of study, including nearly 500 foreigners. Jan Kochanowski University belongs to the group of the most chosen and most popular universities in the country. The statistics from the recruitment conducted in recent years prove the constantly growing interest in our didactic offer at all levels of study.

The University provides education in about 50 fields of study and nearly 150 specialties in almost all scientific fields, including the humanities, social sciences, medical and health sciences, exact and natural sciences, art. The educational offer proposed by the University is being successively enriched with new fields related to the needs of the modern labor market. We are expanding the offer of education in English. In the recent years, several fields of study have been introduced, enjoying great popularity and the interest of young people, such as law, psychology, applied criminology, cosmetology, dietetics, data engineering, social communication, medicine – in Polish and English (English Division). A novelty in the academic year 2019/2020 is, among other fields, speech therapy.
